Well, I’m 31 years old and I am the QA Lead in Switch Studios.
I was born in Portugal and I moved to the UK in 2016, looking for a challenge in my life at that point. So I thought, why not move to a different country?
I came here to do the same job as I was doing in Portugal but in a different area.
Working in gaming is a fantastic challenge, especially around the Automation.
How can we speed up the testing without jeopardise the quality of the Software? There is a lot that we can learn everyday around this area.
My role here is making sure that we can achieve the very best quality with efficient use of technology and, at the same time, speed up the testing.
Speeding up can be challenging because some people might take this to mean neglecting the quality but that is not correct. If we use the technology to our advantage we might end up with less time spent and better quality software. It’s always a question how we use the technology to our benefit.
Technology changes every day and with that the QA of our software needs to grow and follow the changes as well.
How did you feel when you won your DevelopHER Award?
Completely unexpected and proud of my team because without team that wouldn’t be possible.
If you could say something to yourself before you started a career in tech what would it be?
That I wouldn’t regret the decision.
Lockdown bonus questions:
How has lockdown affected your life and your job? Are you working from home? Furloughed?
Are you enjoying the downtime or can you not wait for things to go back to normal(ish)?
In the work we have adopted ways to reduce the problems that not being in the office could bring.
The part that I’m enjoying of this lockdown is that I’m able to be on the patio while I’m doing my work, so the chance to enjoy our homes its fantastic.
With this downtime, I have been occupied with the patio decoration, sowing some seeds and see them growing.
Also, I’m using this time to make sure I finish my dissertation on time ( September is coming soon)!!
I have also started reading a book : ” The obstacle is the way”.
